Thanks to legislative grants from Assemblyman Tim Gordon and former Senator Joe Bruno there are many new technology items at the library.
The three very temperamental patron computers have been replaced with Dell Optiplex 330 desktops with 19” monitors. Headphones are now available at each computer station to offer privacy for listening. The patron computers print to a new laser printer. Patrons are able to bring in and save to a USB flash drive.
In addition, a new circulation computer is in place along with a new barcode scanner for speedier check-in and check-out.
A color copier has been installed. This copier is also the new fax machine. Color copies may be made via library staff for 25 cents per page/side. Black & white copies are still 10 cents per page/side. Faxes may be sent locally for 25 cents per page and $1.00 per page for long distance.
WiFi for in and out of the library and laptops for patrons’ use inside the library will be available by the end of November.
The Trustees and staff of the Poestenkill Library are very appreciative of the opportunity to offer improved technology services to the Poestenkill community.
