The library trustees and I have decided, in the best interest of the staff and the community, to close the library immediately and through the next two weeks. We will re-evaluate this situation at the end of the month.
Due to the many other libraries that have closed, and others likely to follow, it will not be possible to fill any requests other than those already placed within the Upper Hudson Library System. I plan to be at the library, occasionally over the next several days, checking on the delivery of books from interlibrary loans. I will call each person as their item(s) arrive and make arrangements for picking up the items, if they are still wanted. After Tuesday, deliveries from other libraries will cease until at least the end of the month.
(Update: Upper Hudson has extended the due dates on all checked out items to April 1, and has extended the expiration date on cards to July 1. In addition, new online registration will be valid for 90 days rather than the standard 14 days to allow new patrons to access online resources.)
Please try our online services through Libby, Overdrive, or Flipster for ebooks, audiobooks, movies, and magazines. I know that several libraries, including Poestenkill, will be placing additional orders for ebooks in order to increase the collection available during this time of closures.
