Happy New Year!

Smiles from the threshold of the year to come,
Whispering ‘it will be happier’…”
Alfred Lord Tennyson
We are all looking forward to a return to a degree of normalcy as the year progresses. But until then, we still need to keep some procedures & guidelines in place until further notice.

Here are some reminders about the library as we begin the year of 2021:

* The library is open for item pickup service only until further notice. You may pick up items during all open hours.

* Items may be requested online via the UHLS catalog or by calling the library for assistance in finding what you need.

* Online Resources
In addition to being able to reserve items through the online catalog, there are many other online resources available to library card holders. If you do not have a library card, you may register online here for one. This will give you access to all online resources. Other resources are:
Overdrive – ebooks, audiobooks, videos, and magazines (over 600 titles). Materials for all ages. There is a link to Overdrive on this page and an app called Libby, by Overdrive is also available. Overdrive has a great selection with a 14 day loan period and single-use items.
Flipster – magazines that are not available on Overdrive. There is a link on this page and an app is available.
Hoopla – This is the newest offering for online services. Borrow ebooks, audiobooks, comics, music, and TV with no holds or late fees. There is simultaneous use with the items on Hoopla. Sign up here or with the Hoopla app.
UHLS databases – The Upper Hudson Library system has a list of databases available to all patrons.

*We are unable to accept item donations at this time. We know everyone is cleaning out the items in their house right now, but we cannot take books, DVDs, CDs, etc. We plan to have another donation day when nice weather arrives and the shed is accessible. Please do not leave boxes or bags of donations on the porches. They will have to go right into the trash and nobody wants that to happen.

* The library staff has been working on moving some things around in the library and weeding out items that have not circulated in many years. We can’t wait until everyone can come back in and see what we have been doing.

* The library staff and trustees wish you all a safe and healthy 2021! We are looking forward to welcoming our friends back into the library as soon as possible.
