Summer Reading program ends 8/31! Events for September!

You still have time to do some reading and participate in a drawing for a grand prize. Register at This is open to all ages – PreK 0-4 years, Children 5-12, Teens 13-17, and Adults 18 & up. Record your time spent reading and become eligible for a drawing of a grand prize, at each age level.

The last episodes of Checkers TV are now available. See the link on the right side of our page. Thank you to The Friends of Poestenkill Library for sponsoring this program for us. It was something new to try in this time of not being able to gather for programs. Please let us know what you thought of Checkers TV, either by sending an email to or through the library Facebook page.

New Hours – The library will close at 8pm on Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday evenings, effective immediately.

Upcoming Events! (Masks are recommended at outdoor events and required indoors)

September 8 – New director starts! Welcome Amanda!

September 11 – Fall Market Day 9-12:30 on the lawn at the library. Books $5 per bag – BYOB or purchase a Friends of the Poestenkill Library Bag for $5 and fill for free. Bake Sale, Baskets Raffle, Dessert-of -the Month Raffle, small offering of puzzles (large sale n October), hot dogs & chili. The Friends need some helpers to set up at 7am and to help take down at 12:30. Please let us know if you can help out for an hour or so. They are also looking for donations of themed baskets. Contact Judy Grattan at if you can help or donate baked goods or baskets.

August 23 – September 11 – Dessert-of-the-Month Raffle. Tickets are available at the library through Market Day.  $12 each or 2/$20. First Prize – 12 full size homemade desserts, one each month for a year; 2nd prize – Basket of chocolate goodies; 3rd prize – $25 gift certificate from The Cookie Factory.

September 18 – 20th Anniversary Celebration, 1-3pm! The library will celebrate 20 years in its home at 9 Plank Road.  Slide show, stories, refreshments outside on the lawn & porch. It’s a great chance to see a lot of old friends and familiar faces from the past!

October 16 – Jigsaw Puzzle Sale  9-12 on the lawn at the library. HUGE selection of gently used puzzles. Great prices! Stock up for the winter! Contact Marcia at if you have puzzle donations or can help at the October sale.
