The library is closed due to the weather conditions. You can still browse the catalog and order books, download audiobooks and ebooks, and now you can download magazines! All from the comfort of home! See the Overdrive link to the right to download materials. In addition, children can access Tumble Books and play games and read books online.
I hope you get a chance to check out these great services.

Digital magazines now available
Upper Hudson Library System is now offering digital magazines via our ebook vendor, OverDrive. Any cardholder at any public library in Albany or Rensselaer Counties can now check out digital magazines.
OverDrive uses the Nook app as its magazine reader, so you will have to set up a Barnes & Noble account and download the Nook app to your mobile device or compatible computer. To read NOOK periodicals, you need one of the following:
• The free NOOK app for Android
•The free NOOK app for iOS (iPhone/iPad/iPod touch)
•The free NOOK app for Windows 8
•A supported NOOK device (like the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 NOOK, NOOK HD or HD+, NOOK Tablet, or NOOK Color).

Happy New Year from the Trustees, staff, and volunteers at the Poestenkill Library! Great new things are coming in 2015 starting with the library’s new tag line “Access information. Discover ideas. Enjoy reading.” We think this describes the reasons people come to the library!
The 3D printer is now ready for public use! Please see the 3D printer policy and user agreement located on our Library Policies page. Anyone wishing to use the printer will need to schedule an orientation with Nick or Greg prior to submitting projects to be printed.
Downloading magazines – by the end of January you will be able to choose from 70 magazine titles to download the same way eBooks and audiobooks are downloaded via Overdrive. More titles will be purchased by the Upper Hudson Library System member libraries as they become available. For instance, Consumer Reports is not currently available. We hope you will take advantage of this great new service. Please watch for starting dates and more information.
New automation system and catalog – We are currently being trained for a new automation system which will be more user-friendly for both patrons and staff. The “go live” date is February 24th. We will begin to share some of the new features as our training is completed. The catalog searching will be much easier and look more like the searches you do on Google or Amazon. There will be no changes to your card number or PIN.
Take your Child to the Library Day – Saturday, February 7th! We are planning activities for this annual event.
The new year is off to a great start! Stop in and see our great collection of books, DVDs, magazines, music CDs, books on CD/MP3, and much more. The local history section has been reorganized and there are some wonderful locally produced materials to read. We are a wi-fi hotspot, both inside and outside of the library.

The Friends of Poestenkill Library have mailed out the flyers for the 14th Annual Holiday Lights Appeal! This very successful campaign raises a little over $5,000 each year and offers people an opportunity to honor a special person or offer a memorial to someone dear to them. If you did not receive a flyer, please call the library or send an email to email@example.com and we will get one to you. They are also available at the library. This a great way to give a gift to the person who has everything and help out the library at the same time.
Visit the Holiday Lights page to donate online!
