The Poestenkill Library

Access information. Discover ideas. Enjoy reading.

Closed Monday, September 2nd

The library will be closed on Monday, September 2nd in honor of Labor Day. Stop in on Saturday August 31st from 10am – 1pm and stock up on movies, books, music, and magazines for the weekend!

Fall Market Day will be Saturday, September 21 from 9am-1pm

The Friends of Poestenkill Library met last night to make final plans for their annual Fall Market Day. Helpers will be needed at 7am on that day to help set up and helpers are also needed at 12:45 to put everything away. If you can help for any part of that day (especially at the end of the day when the workers who have been there all day are weary), please call the library at 283-3721 to leave your name and number as a volunteer. The Friends are also looking for baked goods for the Bake Sale. Market Day will also offer for sale: puzzles, books ($4 per bag, bring your own bag), gently used handbags/jewelry/scarves, attic treasures/collectibles, and delicious chili at lunch time.

Mark your calendar so you don’t miss this great annual event on the lawn at the Poestenkill Library! Rain date is Sunday, September 22.

Summer Reading Program ends Today!

summer_reading[1]Don’t forget to get all your reading logged into your account by the end of the day today (August 16th)! Once kids’ records are up-to-date, you can come to the library to pick out your prizes. Teens and adults will have their names put into a drawing for prizes based on their reading records. Prize winners will be notified by phone and/or email. Also, children completing the summer reading program will be able to pick a book out of a collection of new books we have.
All prizes and books must be claimed by August 30th.
Thank you for participating in the summer reading program! We hope you read some great books!

Keep Cool @ the Library!

keeping coolThe library is a great, air-conditioned place to spend some time over the next few hot days! Please see the library’s hours at the right. We have public use computers (1/2 hour usage time per patron), plenty of places to sit and use your own electronic device with free Wi-Fi, and a great social atmosphere (which means we do not shush!) in the center of town. We have many, many new books for adults, teens, and children. There are a variety of magazines available for use in the library and to take home. Lots of DVDs to choose from, as well as music CDs and books on CD. There is something for everyone! While you are there, sign up for the summer reading program and earn prizes for your reading!
