The library will be closed due to the snow storm. Don’t forget you can search the catalog and order books online from home. See the link in the right column. You can also download ebooks! See the Overdrive link to download ebooks and for help in setting up your device to be able to download. You will need to have your library card number and PIN (last 4 digits of the phone number we have on record for you). If you have any problems, please send us anDSC_0140 email (or call during our open hours).

Check back tomorrow morning to see if we will be able to open for Friday & for Story Hour.

Take Your Child to the Library Day – Saturday, February 1st

imagesHave you been to the library lately? Saturday, February 1st would be a great day to visit! It is National Take Your Child to the Library Day! Come see the new books, DVDs, and music CDs we have for children and adults! We would love to see our old friends and make new friends at the Poestenkill Library! The library is open from 10am to 1pm on Saturdays.

I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. We need to keep everyone safe and off these slippery roads. We should be open tomorrow! Don’t forget you can order books from home (see search catalog to the right of this posting) and you can download ebooks, audiobooks, and even some movies (limited selection) through Overdrive. And now magazines are being offered – see details below. Kids can use Tumble Books to read picture books and play games. All from the comfort of home!! I hope you get a chance to try it out!

Digital magazines now available

Upper Hudson Library System is now offering digital magazines via our ebook vendor, OverDrive. Any cardholder at any public library in Albany or Rensselaer Counties can now check out digital magazines.

OverDrive uses the Nook app as its magazine reader, so you will have to set up a Barnes & Noble account and download the Nook app to your mobile device or compatible computer. To read NOOK periodicals, you need one of the following:
• The free NOOK app for Android
•The free NOOK app for iOS (iPhone/iPad/iPod touch)
•The free NOOK app for Windows 8
•A supported NOOK device (like the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 NOOK, NOOK HD or HD+, NOOK Tablet, or NOOK Color).
